Intruder flees after waking sleeping resident in Ypsilanti Township home

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies say a man entered an unlocked home through the garage and fled after waking up a resident sleeping in an upstairs bedroom Monday morning.

The break-in occurred at about 8:35 a.m. in the 200 block of Aveline Street in Ypsilanti Township. Police say a man entered the garage through an unlocked side door, then entered a car in the garage. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

The intruder then went into the home through an unlocked door, walked upstairs and opened the bedroom door where the homeowner was sleeping, reports said. The homeowner woke up, and the intruder left without taking anything.

The homeowner was unable to provide a detailed description of the man. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

Because people need to be riminded that sometimes criminals don't want "things". The article didn't indicate the sex of the homeowner but perhaps the homeowner wasn't the flavor that the criminal wanted. 1*

Luckily I'm not a creep, so I don't walk into people's homes just because they're unlocked, so granted I don't know how their minds work. But I can't figure out why the intruder would walk upstairs and check in on the bedroom. If you're going to steal something, be quiet and be done with it -- why go upstairs and straight to the bedroom???? Good thing no one was hurt, I hope karma catches up to the intruder though.
