No cause yet known in death of Bridgewater Township woman

By Lee Higgins

Washtenaw County Medical Examiner Bader Cassin has not yet determined what caused the death of a Bridgewater Township woman last week, but said he suspects it was related to exposure to the cold.

Toxicology results may not be available for one to three weeks, Cassin said this morning.

Anna-Maria Wheeker, 45, a mother of four, was found roughly a half-mile from her Kies Road home Jan. 13.

Investigators said they found no obvious signs of foul play.

Wheeker's body was found four days after her husband reported her missing. She was dressed for the weather, Cassin said.

Police said Wheeker was a wilderness lover and enjoyed spending time in the woods, including camping overnight.

I don't get it. She loves to be outdoors, so she's probably very familiar with the half-mile radius around her own home... I hope they find an answer as to why she wouldn't be able to make it back to the house before she died.
