Kitchen fire damages Express Shishkabob in Pittsfield Township

Express Shishkabob in Pittsfield Township is expected to be closed until Thursday following a kitchen fire at the restaurant Sunday.
Pittsfield Fire Cmdr. Sean Gleason said a fire started in the kitchen of the restaurant in the 4000 block of Washtenaw Avenue and damaged some equipment in the kitchen. Smoke also damaged the interior of the restaurant.
The gas line was shut off to the restaurant, and it was closed, reports said. No one was injured.
No damage estimate was available today.
A woman who answered the phone at Express Shishkabob this afternoon said they're awaiting inspections and hope to reopen Thursday.
