Lecturers union ratifies new contract with the University of Michigan
Following eight months of negotiations, the Lecturers' Employee Organization at the University of Michigan has approved a new contract with the university.
Voted ballots were 99 percent in support of ratifying the new labor agreement, according to a statement from the union. The vote was tallied Friday.
The Lecturers' Employee Organization represents 1,400 lecturers and other non-tenure faculty who teach at U-M's Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses.
A tentative agreement regarding the new collective bargaining contract was signed by the union and the U-M in early August. Friday's ratification vote was the final step in the process.
