When a library was planned it might be nice if they had a place to park as well as a place for books. When you want a stage that seats 100 and only have a place to park 25 cars that doesn't make much sense. PPPP (prior planning prevents poor performance)

The parking at the branch libraries is ridiculous. They are much too small. Malletts Creek is always full and hard to find a place to park.

The parking is worst at the West Branch; there, no matter what time of day you go there, you have to park far away. It has no parking lot to call its own. Only Pittsfield and Mallett's Creek have drive-thrus for those of us who don't need parking places, but do have materials to return. Patrons of the Traverwood Branch would know in a hurry if there were no power there (supposing that a power outage there were NOT posted here on annarbor.com) if they went to the parking spaces underneath the library, and found it dark, and a big fan on one wall off. Three places to choose from for parking there, but no drive-up; it's the two roads, but especially Traverwood, that isn't constructed for such a parking lot beside it.

I'm really tired of these power outages. As statistics show, our pow reliability is about three times worse than in most of Europe, where weather conditions and population density are roughly comparable to SE Michigan. DTE as to seriously start thinking about redundancy robustness, not just the next quarterly report to shareholders.

Would be nice if other businesses, such as the plasma donor clinic on Michigan Avenue, also were mentioned when closed because of power shortages, here on annarbor.com. Last Saturday, at 10:15, annarbor.com just posted the general area in green among other areas without power. The clinic was closed at 8 am or even earlier that day. But when it comes to a library closing because of power out, for those of us without portable Internet, we can renew checkouts online if we have to, in order to avoid fines. I'm assuming that the West Branch, Pittsfield Branch, and Traverwood Branch would also be menitioned on annarbor.com if they had a power outage on any given day. I've seen kids' events at the Pittsfield Library, bringing in so many people, some had to park at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube; with their permission, of course.
