Lincoln High School Top Scholars

Lincoln High School held its 2013 graduation ceremonies Friday, May 31, 7 p.m. at the EMU Convocation Center. The Honors Graduation was Wednesday, May 29 at 7 p.m. in the high school performing arts center. The class includes 282 graduates.

Emily Bamrick
Parents: Pete and Cathy Bamrick
Activities and Awards: Emily was a member of Key Club and Link-Crew. She was diligent about grades, especially with AP classes, but she devoted most of her time to the arts. She started acting and singing at a young age, and was a very active participant in both the theatre department and the choir program for her entire high school career. Her freshman year, she auditioned into the top ensemble in the choir program, and when an elite, after-school, mixed ensemble was created, she became a part of that, too. She held various positions in the Drama Club, ranging from publicity assistant to head scenic artist. She will graduate as Vice President of the Drama Club, Student Director, and Vocal Director for this year’s spring show.
Plans After Graduation: Emily will be attending the Lee Honors College at Western Michigan University, and is currently undecided in her major.

Shelby Crow
Parents: Douglas and Cynthia Crow
Activities and Awards: Shelby was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a member of the All-Academic All-State golf team, a member of the Southeastern Conference All-Academic team, and she was also a Southeastern Conference scholar athlete for golf. Shelby was a four-year member of the girls varsity soccer team. She was voted captain of the soccer team in both her junior and senior years. In addition to being on the soccer team, Shelby was also a member of the cross-country and JV basketball teams her sophomore year, and a member of the golf team for her junior and senior years.
Plans After Graduation: Shelby will be attending Xavier University, majoring in accountancy.

Camille Figarra
Parents: Dominick and Janet Figarra
Activities and Awards: Camille has been in National Honor Society for two years. Camille has achieved four years on the Lincoln High School Honor Roll. She has been a member of the Paint Creek 4-H club for eleven years with Best of Show awards for still exhibits, first place rabbit showmanship for four years, participation in Rural Education Days for five years, a teen leader for two years, and a Michigan State Fair Rabbit Showmanship competitor. She has been an active member of the Lincoln Theatre Department for four years and of the Lincoln Railsplitter Marching Band for four years, as well as Symphonic Band for three years and Split Dimensions Choir for one year. Camille also sews in conjunction with the Pittsfield Seniors making quilts for safe houses, hospitals, homeless shelters, and teen pregnancy centers.
Plans After Graduation: Camille will be attending Eastern Michigan University’s Honors College majoring in Occupational Therapy.

Tiffany Hogan
Parents: Thomas and Kimberly Hogan
Activities and Awards: Tiffany was a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior years, on the honor roll all four of her high school years, and was an athletic academic scholar. She was on the basketball team her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and on the varisty golf team all four of her years. Tiffany's junior and senior years, she was the captain of the golf team.
Plans After Graduation: Tiffany will be attending Western Michigan University to major in business.

Taylor Jones
Parents: Rodrick Jones, Kim Copeland
Activities and Awards: Taylor was a member of the National Honor Society. Taylor was a four-year member of the girls varsity Tennis team. She was voted captain of the tennis team her senior year. Taylor was also a member of both marching and concert band. She was chosen to be the Drum Major for both her junior and senior years. While in band she received the Neumann award, the Jenvey award, and leadership and musicianship awards over the course of her four years. She has volunteered her time assisting with tennis clinics for children k-12 during every summer, assisting at the local library, and tutoring middle school students. She was a member of student council her freshman year, a member of Key Club her sophomore and junior years, and a freshman mentor both her junior and senior years
Plans After Graduation: Taylor will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in political science.

Jerry Jordan
Parents: John and Cindy Jordan
Activities and Awards: NHS member Sophomore, Junior and Senior year, NHS officer Senior year. Link-in leader for Junior and Senior year. Class officer Senior year. Varsity letter four years (one for hockey and three for Lacrosse), Academic letter for four years. Lacrosse player four years, varsity three years, captain two years. Junior Honor Guard. Lincoln Leadership Group. Competitive travel hockey for eleven years. AP scholar (Calculus and English).
Plans After Graduation: Attend University of Alabama to pursue a degree in Mechanical engineering. Also plan to play hockey for the University of Alabama's Frozen Tide.

Samantha Malley
Parents: Brian and Judy Malley
Activities and Awards: Samantha has been involved in marching and concert bands all four years of high school. In both her junior and senior years she was elected Color Guard Section Leader (or captain), and was a member of Lincoln’s Symphonic Band. Sophomore through senior years, she was a member of the Girl’s Varsity Swim Team and won the Most Improved Swimmer award at the end of her first season for her hard work and progress. Junior year Samantha played on the Girl’s Tennis Team, and became an active member of the National Honor Society. She volunteered at University of Michigan’s football concession stands, and worked her way up into the Sky Box as a server.
Plans After Graduation: Samantha will be attending Eastern Michigan University for her first four years to major in chemistry, then hopes to go on to grad school for veterinary science.

Addison Mosser
Parents: Dennis and Beth Mosser
Activities and Awards: Addison was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. She was elected as National Honor Society Treasurer her senior year. She was also elected as the senior class vice president. She was on the varsity tennis team her sophomore year. She danced at Randazzo Dance throughout middle school and high school. Addison participated in band for three years and was the majorette for the marching band her sophomore year. She was also one of five students from her school to win the SEC all-academic award.
Plans After Graduation: Addison will be attending the University of Alabama and will major in Chemical Engineering.

Michael Myles Jr.
Parents: Michael Myles Sr. and Patricia Myles
Activities and Awards: Mikey was active in Baseball, Basketball, Marching band, Cross Country, Orchestra, National Honor Society. He also was a National Merit Scholarship Winner.
Plans After Graduation: Attend either University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, or Columbia University to study Economics and Mathematics.

Trevyn Payne
Parents: Stephen & Tricia Payne
Activities and Awards: Trevyn is an active member in every aspect of the band program. Playing trombone in everything from Marching band to Jazz Band. He is also a member of the National Honors Society acting as a Tutor for the after school program.
Plans After Graduation: Trevyn will be attending Michigan Tech for Chemical Engineering, and hopes to be able to continue playing music at the college level.

C'aira Pickering
Parents: Shannon and Randy Pickering
Activities and Awards: C'aira was a member of the National Honors Society. She was a Varsity cheerleader for three football seasons and one competitive season. She was voted captain for two of them in her senior year and received an All District Honorable Mention as well as an Academic All State Honors Certificate. She was voted MVP and given the Coach's Award Senior year. C'aira has volunteered to help special needs kids on an allstar cheerleading team and worked with needy families.
Plans After Graduation: C'aira will be attending Eastern Michigan University, majoring in Pre-Med.

Lauren Simonds
Parents: Susan and Thomas Simonds
Activities and Awards: Lauren was an all A student. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Link-In Crew and Student Voice. Lauren volunteered at Safety Town for six years. She also volunteered at the Ypsilanti Rec Center and the Southgate VFW. Lauren was a four year member of the girls varsity swim and dive team. She was a team captain her senior year. Lauren has also upheld a part time job at a local daycare for the past two years.
Plans After Graduation: Lauren plans to continue working at the local daycare while attending Washtenaw Community College. She is going to pursue degrees in Early Childhood and Business.

Matthew Studer
Parents: Dan and Kathy Studer
Activities and Awards: Matthew was a member of the Varsity soccer and lacrosse teams, Symphonic Band and the Link-In Crew freshman mentoring team. He was awarded the Southeast Conference Student-Athlete award as well as the Sportsmanship Award for soccer in his senior year. He was a 4-year member of the marching band, was Sergeant at Arms of the Senior Class, and was Vice President of the National Honor Society his senior year.
Plans After Graduation: Matthew will be studying Engineering at the University of Alabama where he has accepted a full-tuition scholarship as well as an Engineering College leadership award.



Samantha Van Horn
Parents: James and Lisa Van Horn
Activites and Awards: Samantha was a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior years. Samantha was a member of the varsity golf and basketball team in her junior and senior years. She was also a member of the varsity soccer team for her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was awarded with All-Conference honors her sophomore and junior year. She was also voted captain of the team in her senior year. Samantha recieved the scholar athlete award, and sportsmanship award her senior year in both golf and basketball. Samantha was also a part of the Link-in freshman mentoring crew her senior year.
Plans After Graduation: Samantha will be attending the University of Michigan.
