Ann Arbor area drive-through clinics to offer seasonal flu shots
Getting your seasonal flu shot this year will be as easy as picking up fast food.
A number of local drive-through flu shot clinics are offering vaccines this fall. The clinics will have the vaccine for the expected seasonal flu strain - but not the vaccine for the H1N1 flu virus, known as the swine flu, that’s spread around the globe and is expected to resurge this fall.
While local health officials say the first doses of vaccines for the H1N1 strain won’t become available for the most at-risk populations until at least mid-October, they're pushing for local residents to get vaccinated for the annual seasonal flu.
The drive-through clinics allow adults to drive in and get a flu shot without having to get out of the car.
A flu-shot clinic will be held at the Michigan Visiting Nurses at 2850 S. Industrial Highway on Sat., Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Washtenaw County and Huron Valley Ambulance are offering their second annual drive-through flu shot clinic on Sat., Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Huron Valley Ambulance at 1200 State Circle. Shots will be available for those who are 18 years and older and cost $20 each.

What a convenience! Just be careful driving home; you'll be just a little less cognitively functional after this dose of 25 mcg of Thimerosal, which is 49.7% ethyl mercury. Ummmm..... unless you're one of the 15-25% of the population with a genetic polymorphism that makes you less than competent at excreting heavy metals. In that case, you're screwed. But, never mind. It's your "patriotic duty" - so says the governor of Maryland - to protect The Herd. Just ask your doctor... Mercury is GOOD for you!!! :-)
