Long delays expected on portion of Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township Monday
Carpenter Road between Ellsworth Road and Packard Road in Pittsfield Township will be reduced to one lane Monday for paving.
The Washtenaw County Road Commission and Barrett Paving Materials Inc. will begin repairing the joint between the southbound lane and the center, left-turn lane on Carpenter Road between Ellsworth and Packard.
This repair work will consist of milling out the damaged pavement and repaving with hot-mix asphalt and the repairs are expected to take about one day.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction and long delays are expected.
However, access for residents, businesses and deliveries will be maintained.
Keep in mind that all dates are tentative and the paving work is dependent on weather.

The southbound right lane on that stretch is a disaster.

Why won't the road commission do work at night with portable lights, when there is less of an impact on businesses?

The sleepers can close the windows and put the AC on for a night. Sombrero, there would be no overtime if the work is done at night instead of the daytime. It's the impact on businesses and work commutes that is the issue here.

It's probably not cost-efficient. Overtime and what not.

Because people living nearby need to sleep?

Do I read that right...."the repairs are expected to take about one day"? As a regular @ Krogers and Home Depot I could sneak in the back way behind the shopping center if it was going to last several days or weeks.

Annarbor.com - are there plans to repair the stretch of Carpenter Rd between Packard and Hogback. That stretch of road is in need of repair more than the portion being shut down in Monday.

That was my first thought when I saw the headline.

Yep, that section is a disaster. I wonder why they just don't do the entire stretch at the same time.

So much for school shopping at Meijer, Target, Staples, etc. Good idea waiting for all the school traffic to be around instead of when traffic was lighter this summer.

I agree. Why the delay to the end of August when shopping is in full swing for school???
