Man accused of killing Pittsfield Township resident Dawn Fital to stand trial

By Kyle Feldscher

The man accused of killing Pittsfield Township resident Dawn Fital will stand trial next month after a judge declared him competent on Tuesday.

Police say Gregory Noack, 44, killed Fital at the Arbor Knoll apartment complex on Plum Hollow Drive in June. District court Judge Richard Conlin ruled Noack was competent based on a doctor’s report, and the trial will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 28 at 14A District Court.

Fital was found dead at 9:13 a.m. June 16 in a suitcase at the bottom of a retention pond near a Toys ‘R’ Us store in Merrillville, Ind. Her autopsy report showed that she died from asphyxiation but also suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

Fital, a mother of 4, lived in the Pittsfield Township apartment with Noack and her ex-husband.

Noack is being held without bond in the Washtenaw County Jail.

So glad to hear he is competent to stand trial. If the accused is found guilty at the trial, he should be put away for a lone time. My heart goes out to the four children left without their mother. (I pray they are doing as well as can be expected).
