Man arrested after brandishing BB gun outside Ypsilanti bar

By Juliana Keeping

A man who scared customers after brandishing a BB gun outside a bar in Ypsilanti early this morning was arrested on a charge of unlawfully displaying a replica gun.

The 58-year old man was at the Elbow Room, 6 S. Washington St., when he argued with another patron who accused him of stealing his girlfriend months before. The bartender asked the man to leave.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 1:50 a.m. after the man waved the gun in the air near a window of the bar.

When they arrived, the man was in his car in a parking lot nearby, and showed police a BB gun in his trunk.

The case moves to the prosecutor's office for review.
