Man arrested after firing shot in Ypsilanti Township, deputies say

A man was arrested Friday after investigators say he followed a female acquaintance around Ypsilanti Township and fired a shot into the air.

Byron Maurice Taylor, 42, is charged with felonious assault, a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department incident summary said.

Taylor is accused of firing the shot at about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Nash and Desoto streets in the West Willow neighborhood while the woman was attempting to get away from him.

He was arrested on Huron River Drive after she called 911 as he was walking toward her with the gun, the summary said. Deputies recovered the gun, the summary said.

Taylor was arraigned Saturday. He is being held on $25,000 cash bond, and a pre-trial has been scheduled for Dec. 2.

"while the woman was "attempted" to get away? Please, please edit prior to posting! Do you have any other info such as is this guy on parole or probation? Has there been previous incidents of domestic violence etc?

Thank you, Mr. Pepple. djm, Mr. Taylor served close to ten years in prison for the murder of Michael Dameron in the early 90's. Please note that he was in fact defending himself from being killed.

Convicted felon with a gun? Wonder why he didn't follow the cornucopia of gun laws already on the books that say he can't have one? Obviously MORE gun control is in order, that'll fix it.

Being on probation, hopefully he'll be thrown back in for quite a while. And maybe a lesson in physics is in order as well. Thankfully, this bullet didn't come down on any living beings.

SUPERVISION CONDITIONS
01 - No violations of any criminal law

if this is him (http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis2profile.asp?mdocNumber=207079) i say he probably violated his probation.

Being on Probation just means the Department of Corrections has a Probation Officer as a scapegoat. The Department has a 'zero tolertance' for weapons, we'll see what happens to him once his Judge gets him in front of him\her.

Domestic Violence? Humm I wonder if this is his victim on that case too?
