Man arrested after Ypsilanti Township street robbery and stabbing

By Heidi Fenton

A 40-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after a street robbery in Ypsilanti Township, authorities said.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2800 block of East Michigan Avenue around 3:30 a.m. and told a man and woman were approached from behind as they walked down the road. A man reportedly grabbed the female and took money out of her hands.

The man she was with confronted the suspect, police said, and the suspect stabbed him. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon was used.

The man’s injuries were not life-threatening and the two victims were able to provide a description of the suspect, police said. The man was located in the area minutes later.

Deputies said the stolen money was recovered and the man remains lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail.

I'll repeat what others have said here before: Nothing good ever happens at this hour.

Since we can't speculate beyond what is stated in the article I won't hazard a guess as to what the man and woman were doing at 3am that would require her to have money in her hand.

Oh...so it's perfectly okay that they got attacked and stabbed if they were doing something you disagree with? But it's not okay "if they were good citizens on their way to work". I feel sorry for you if that's the level of compassion you have for others. That's really sad.

I say yes it does matter. If they were buying drugs I can sleep a little better knowing this will not effect me. But if they were good citizens on their way to work this would be something that would concerned me very much.

They were the victims of a violent attack. Does it really matter what they were doing?

Is there a photo of the guy? I was approached but when he saw my size he turned and walked away.
