By Erica Hobbs

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery Tuesday outside the Tap Room in the 200 block of Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti.

Police reports say six to eight juveniles approached the victim and attempted to rob him.

Police said one teen punched the victim numerous times and threw him to the ground, but the victim was able to break free and ran into the nearby Elbow Room. Nothing was taken from him.

Reports say the teens ran southbound on Washington Street.

Detailed descriptions of the teens were not available.

To "Johnny" - The problem with the CPL: In many of these instances of late night attacks (I presume it was late night), the fact is we can't carry in bars and clubs. While no one should be allowed to carry when drinking alcohol, not everyone drinks. I myself do not, but still enjoy watching a local band play. If this victim was not visiting bars and just happen to be taking a night stroll for food or between houses, then he could have legally carried; otherwise not.

P.S.- Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6. This is worst case scenario.
