Man attacked and threatened with rifle outside Ypsilanti Township apartment
Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies say three men assaulted a stranger in an apartment hallway in Ypsilanti Township and continued to attack him after he fell down the stairs Saturday night.
Police said the victim apparently wasn't the intended target of the attack.
Police say the victim was hanging out with friends in the 2600 block of International Drive and left to go home at about 10:15 p.m. He was walking up a set of stairs to the third floor when he was confronted by three men waiting in the hallway, a sheriff's summary said.
The men immediately began assaulting the victim, and he fell down the stairs, the summary said. The three men continued to assault him, and threatened him with a rifle, the summary said.
The attackers fled, and the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, the report said.
The victim was unable to provide a detailed description of the men and said two were wearing ski masks.
