Man breaks into Ypsilanti Township home and attempts to flee with his 2-year-old child

A mother chased her boyfriend and jumped into the bed of his pickup truck after he broke into her home and fled with their 2-year-old daughter Sunday, Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies said.

Police said the man went to the woman's home in the 1100 block of Desoto Avenue in Ypsilanti Township, attempted to kick the front door down and eventually got inside through a back window.

He assaulted the woman and fled with the child, a sheriff's department incident summary said.

The woman jumped into the bed of his pick-up truck as he was leaving with the child, the summary said.

Deputies responded at about 7:25 p.m. and located all three people inside the truck, the summary said. The woman suffered minor injuries and the child was not harmed.

The 39-year-old Van Buren Township man was taken to Washtenaw County Jail, where he is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon.

Gee whiz. I hope he doesn't fall down the stairs at the Hogback Hilton a few thousand times.

Jumping into the bed of a fleeing truck? Just shows to what lengths a mother will go to prevent her child from being abducted.

I am not condoning the mans behavior....assuming he is the father and really wanted to have visitation with his daughter to bad he see's this type of behavior as acceptable....who knows maybe he knows something the courts don't in terms of the enviroment which the child is being raised...sad...no winners

Not enough information to call anyone a winner or loser here. Who's to say that the child wouldn't be better off with the father?
