Man drowns at Clean Water Beach in Milan; 6 Michigan water deaths occurred over holiday weekend

A 21-year-old Lincoln Park man who was swimming with his two brothers drowned Sunday at Clean Water Beach on Cone Road in Milan Township, officials say.

First Lt. Mary Kapp, commander of the Monroe Post of the Michigan State Police, told the Monroe Evening News that Dustin Anderson was swimming with his brothers when they lost track of him. 

Anderson was missing for about 20 to 30 minutes before his body was pulled from the water by Clean Water Beach staff members, the Evening News reported. Anderson was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township.

Anderson was one of at least six people killed in water accidents in Michigan over the Memorial holiday weekend. Among the others:

• Thirty-five year old Zayar Khin drowned Saturday in Lake St. Clair near the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe Shores.

• A 25-year-old man drowned Saturday at a park in Oakland County's Oxford Township.

• A 12-year-old boy from Wayne County's Redford Township drowned Saturday at a campground in Monroe County's Summerfield Township.

• Two men died Saturday in boating accidents in Ottawa County.
