A man was assaulted and robbed this morning in the 500 block of Greenlawn Street in Ypsilanti Township, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies said.
The victim was talking to three other men when one pulled out a gun and assaulted him at about 1 a.m., a sheriff's department incident summary said.
A large amount of cash, a bridge card and cell phone were taken, according to the summary.
The victim, who suffered minor injuries, did not provide a detailed description of his attacker. The investigation is ongoing.
"A large amount of cash, a bridge card and cell phone were taken. . ."
Wow, he has lots of cash and could afford a cell phone, but still qualified for a bridge card? Hmmmm.....

HMMM...."A large amount of cash, a bridge card and cell phone were taken" does anyone else wonder why someone needing a bridge card would be carrying a large amount of cash and a cell phone? I have a land line and won't get a cell until they are cheaper than my land line and i can't remmeber when the last time I was walking around with a large amount of cash??LOL!!!

We're living in the Wild Wild West...hopefully the thugs of the city will continue to prey on only the people who walk around with their cell phone and a wad of cash in their pocket. From recent crime events around Ypsi, the victims were doing things I wouldn't dream of doing in broad daylight, let alone 1 am....in Ypsi! Might as well hang raw meat around your neck and walk into a pack of wolves!

well, there could be any number of reasons why someone would have a large sum of money on them, there was nothing to indicate that it was a regular practice of the victim to have a large sum of money on his person. but lets not forget that a lack of commonsense on a person part doesnt make it any less wrong to rob them.

Well "large amount" is not defined in the article but let's look at this scenario..
You are not well off but a working and productive member of society. Maybe you don't ever make enough money to justify a bank account, maybe you're a day laborer and get paid in cash.
Maybe you just got paid and/or just cashed a check that day and were just trying to get home after a long day....
Just because many of us may not carry cash ever thanks to debit cards or ready access to cash does not mean that everyone is so lucky.
Maybe lots of things, lets get off our high horses and place the blame on the criminals, not the victim.

Some of these comments are really stupid. Since when does owning a cell phone signify wealth or status? Cell phones are cheaper than most landline phones. You can get unlimited nation wide calling for less than $50 per month. So, it makes good financial sense for most single people to own just a cell phone. So, its very reasonable that this victim could qualify for government food subsidy and own a cell phone. And, as for having the large sume of cash on him - many members of low income communities do not have bank accounts. They pay with cash or money order.
