Man sought in armed robbery at Ypsilanti Rite Aid
Ypsilanti police were searching for a suspect who robbed a Rite Aid Pharmacy at gunpoint Saturday on the city's south side.
The incident took place around 7:25 p.m. at the Ride Aid store near the Gault Village Shopping Center on South Grove Street, just south of I-94.
Employees told police the suspect entered the store as if planning to make a purchase. Once the clerk opened the cash register, the man displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and took an unknown amount of cash from the drawer.
The suspect fled the scene on foot. He is described as a 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 black male, with a green and white baseball cap, black jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.
Police used a K-9 unit in an unsuccessful search for the suspect shortly after the incident. On Sunday, police said they were working on extracting surveillance camera footage to aid in the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Thomas Eberts at (734) 482-9878 or Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK-UP.

It is located in the city of ypsilanti hence Ypsilanti police are investigating not the sheriff's office which covers the township.

I believe that this store isn't in the city of Ypsilanti, but rather in Ypsilanti Township, south of the city.

No...It isn't in the township. If you take a look at articles on AA.com about this particular area of Grove Rd, it does in fact belong to the city.

:sigh: Sven, welcome aboard and clearly you are new here in some way. 1) that location is in Ypsilanti TOWNSHIP. 2) its not what is locally known as Ypsilanti's "South side". Why is it that every time the names change, the same old mistakes return?

pseudo--It's in fact in the city of Ypsilanti, not the Gault Village Shopping Center, and it's in the south side of the city (at least directionally) even if that's not what the locals refer to the 'south side.'

That is not what us Ypsi folks consider to be the South Side. Wasn't there another robbery there not long ago?

ypsituckian, is correct. That's why the township is having such a difficult time getting the city to repave Grove Rd in that area.
