Manchester Community Schools expected to approve contract of new superintendent tonight

By Kyle Feldscher

The Manchester Board of Education is expected to approve the contract of new superintendent Cherie Vannatter at tonight's school board meeting, 7 p.m. at 410 City Road.

Vannatter was selected as the new superintendent of the district earlier this month, leaving her post as director of special education for Saline Area Schools. She will be replacing Shawn Lewis-Lakin, who left the district at the end of June to take over as the superintendent of Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools.

The superintendent position has been filled by the principals of the district's three schools, with Manchester High School principal Kevin Mowrer occupying the official role of interim superintendent.

Vannatter, a former principal of Klager Elementary School in Manchester, was selected to be the district's next superintendent in late June by the school board, according to a report by The Manchester Enterprise.
