Manchester High School Top Scholars

Manchester High School held its 2012 graduation ceremonies Sunday, June 3, 2 p.m. at the high school. The class had 87 graduates.



Jenna Chandler

Parents: Cara and Darrell Chandler

Activities and Awards: As a high school student, Jenna participated in Varsity Track and Cross Country for four years, serving as captain to both teams her senior year. She was also a member of National Honor Society, Quizbowl, and Concert/Marching band. She was a mentor and a biology tutor to several freshmen. Jenna made the time to give back to her community through service projects with her church’s youth group. As a junior, Jenna received the Society of Women Engineers Madame Curie Award. As a senior, she was named September Student of the Month and received a scholarship through the National Ground Water Research and Education Foundation.

Plans After Graduation: Jenna will be attending Michigan State University, and studying Environmental Biology/Microbiology through the Lyman Briggs Program and Honors College.




Case Kittel

Parents: Dennis Kittel and Carol Rose Kahn

Activities and Awards: Case was a 4-time Varsity wrestler, where he was a 2012 State Qualifier, and the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award. He also competed on the cross country, track and football teams at the Varsity level. Case served as the Treasurer of both his class, and the Spanish Club. Case was an active member of the National Honors Society, Drama Club, and Future Farmers of America. He volunteers his time by helping out with the Manchester Canoe Race, Christmas in April, and Food Gatherers, along with other local activities. Case is currently taking flying lessons to obtain his Private Pilot License.

Plans After Graduation: Case will be attending the University of Michigan, majoring in Aerospace Engineering.

Nicole Lewis

Parent: Mary Lewis

Activities and Awards: National Honor Society, Student Council, Mentoring, Tutoring, Drama, German Club, Varsity Softball(4 years), JV Volleyball(2 years), JV Basketball(1 year), Volunteering. Awards: scholar athlete for 4 years, high honors, sportsmanship award.

Plans After Graduation: Nicole will be attending Michigan State University in the fall to study Pre-Medicine.






Carly Meeks

Parents: Homer Meeks and Darla Meeks

Activities and Awards: Carly was a member of the Manchester Marching Band for four years and the drum major for two. She also participated in Symphony Band and Jazz Band during high school. Carly loved acting in the Manchester Drama Club and was president her senior year. Carly also co-created the German Club and was president her senior year. She was an active member in the National Honor Society and was their recording secretary. Carly also participated in junior varsity and varsity Quiz Bowl for three years. This is not to mention her involvement in the mentor and tutor programs at MHS.

Plans After Graduation: Carly plans to attend Eastern Michigan University and is enrolled in their Honors College for the fall semester of 2012. She will major in Biology on the pre-medicine program.




Jacquelyn Timoszyk

Parents: Sandra and Timothy Timoszyk

Activities and Awards: Jacquelyn was the President of the Class of 2012. She was also President of Manchester High School National Honor Society. Through NHS, she has been active in volunteerism within her community. Also, she has received the Community Service volunteer award. Jacquelyn has been a four-year high honor roll recipient. She is a four year member of the girls’ varsity cross country and track team. Jacquelyn was also a three year member of the girls' basketball team. She was selected to be captain of both the cross country and track team her senior year. Jacquelyn is an active member of the Michigan Youth Leadership program.

Plans After Graduation: Jacquelyn will be attending the University of Michigan and plans on a pre-med and or psychiatry/psychology curriculum.
