By Lisa Allmendinger

Manchester Township residents who live on gravel roads will be happy to learn that the township plans to spend about $137,400 to put additional gravel on various local roads, as well as paying for three applications of contract brine for dust control on all certified roads in the township.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission recently unanimously agreed to a contract with the township that includes about $100,000 for township-wide gravel as well as about $51,700 for dust control operations on all 47.05 miles of certified gravel roads.

The gravel costs $10.39 per ton, which includes labor, equipment and material costs, and the locations will be chosen by the township supervisor and the Road Commission district foreman for the Manchester Township area.

Last year, the township spent $97,600 on road projects.
