The Dexter Community Schools and the Washtenaw County Road Commission have agreed to pave an about 800-foot portion of Marshall Road from the district’s transportation building in Scio Township west to the existing pavement.
The school district has agreed to pay $100,000 for the project that probably won’t begin until next year, said Steve Puuri, managing director of the Road Commission.
According to the contract agreed upon Tuesday, the school district is making improvements to the building. As part of the project, the driveway and the nearby portion of Marshall Road near the facility will be improved to be “reasonably safe and convenient for public travel.”
The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 1, 2012.
The contract also stipulates that “the construction of the road improvements shall only occur during the Dexter Community Schools summer break while school is out of session.”
