Construction crews to close US-23 overpasses at Willow, Bemis roads for six weeks

By Amy Biolchini

Two overpasses crossing US-23 south of Ann Arbor will each be closed for six weeks as construction crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation complete rehabilitation projects.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Willow Road bridge over US-23 in in York Township will be closed for work on the road surface, railings, beams and approach to the bridge.

Sept. 24, MDOT will also close the Bemis Road bridge over US-23 on the border of Pittsfield and York townships for a similar improvement project.

Actually, this does cause problems. Willis is still closed due to bridge work between Stoney Creek road and Whittaker road. Bemis was detour to the north, and Willow was detour to the south. That's three major East and West routes in a row now closed. This causes more problems.
