Washtenaw County commissioner to face Scio Township trustee for 52nd House seat
Republican Washtenaw County Commissioner Mark Ouimet will face off against Democrat Scio Township Trustee Christine Green in November for the 52nd House seat being vacated by Pam Byrnes.
Ouimet had no competition in the Republican primary and received 9,820 votes.
Green faced two challengers in the Democratic primary. She won by a wide margin with 4,532 votes, or 70.25 percent. Trailing were Jeffrey Lee, who got 541 votes, or 8.39 percent, and Robert Wozniak, who got 1,355 votes, or 21 percent.
The 52nd District includes Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Saline, parts of Ann Arbor and 13 townships on the west side of Washtenaw County.
Green, a Scio Township resident and attorney for 25 years, is a member of the Scio Township Board of Trustees and a member of the Scio Township Planning Commission since 2006.
Ouimet is a former Ann Arbor city councilman and has been a Washtenaw County commissioner since 2005.
