Michigan State Police troopers at the Ypsilanti post say a 15-year-old boy was injured in a suicide attempt Tuesday, and a woman was hospitalized following a separate suicide attempt Monday.

At about 9:40 p.m. Monday, troopers assisted the Jackson Police Department to find a 50-year-old woman who told her family she had driven her car "into the country" and was preparing to kill herself, a press release said.

Dispatchers contacted the woman's cell phone carrier to request GPS "pings" that tracked her movements, the release said. The woman was found in her parked vehicle, off the road, in a Manchester Township field.

She was in and out of consciousness and had taken "a large number of strong prescription pills," the release said. She was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital.

At about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 15-year-old boy jumped from Plymouth Road onto the shoulder of US-23 below, the release said. The boy suffered multiple fractures below the knees, but was in stable condition, police said. He was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital.

Both the woman and the boy survived, according to the release.
