Detroit Free Press: Michigan State Police to begin testing 2013 vehicles in Chelsea
The Michigan State Police will begin testing their 2013 model-year police cars on Saturday, reported the Detroit Free Press.
The Chryslers proving grounds in Chelsea will host the first leg of the annual Michigan State Police Evaluation Test, and wrap up Monday at Grattan Raceway for the final high-speed handling portion, the Press said.
The 19 vehicles being evaluated will include seven motorcycles, and unlike previous decades, the fleet will no longer be dominated by the Ford Crown Victoria, said the Free Press. This year, they reported the Ford's fleet will be made up of the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Interceptor utility vehicle.
The tests will also feature vehicles such as the Dodge Charger Pursuit, the Chevrolet Caprice PPV, the Chevrolet Impala and the Tahoe SUV, the Free Press reported.
