Michael Armitage, 26, was the top vote-getter in the race for three open seats on Milan's City Council.
Armitage, who received 713 votes, will join the City Council with winning candidates Douglas Gilson and Dominic Hamden, who received 609 votes and 568 votes, respectively. Mayor Kym Muckler, who took office in January 2008, ran for reelection unopposed.
As a lifetime resident of Milan, Armitage holds a degree in political
science from Eastern Michigan University, and has served as a board
member for the Friends of Milan Public Library, the Milan Area
Historical Society, and as a trustee for the Greater Milan Area
Community Foundation, among other community accomplishments.
Thirty-year-old Hamden resides in Milan with his wife and two children, and practices law in the city.
