Milan High School Top Scholars

Milan High School will hold its 2013 graduation ceremonies 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, in the high school gymnasium. The class includes 209 plus 5 exchange students getting Certificates of Attendance.
Lucia Alfaro
Activities and Awards: Captain of the cross country and track teams. Played flute in the band and is a member of the National Honor Society. She received All-League, All-Region and Academic All-State honors for cross country and individual qualifier for the state meet as well as All-Region runner for the two-mile in track.
Plans After Graduation: Undecided where to attend college. Plans to study pharmacy with a minor in chemistry.
Parents: David Bartley and Debbie Egner
Activities and Awards: Quiz Bowl captain, Language Club president, first chair clarinet, varsity track and field, and props mistress. Member of the National Honor Society, All-League Quiz Bowl team, Girls State delegate, International Thespian Society presidential scholar, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards delegate.
Plans After Graduation: Undecided where to attend college. Plans to study International Relations, Library Science and Spanish.
Parents: Edward and Victoria Cadagin
Activities and Awards: Football and track, student council and fourth-grade tutor. AP scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.
Plans After Graduation: University of michigan to study accounting.
Parents: Jane and Mark Cook
Activities and Awards: National Honor Society vice president, swim team captain, student representative for the Milan School Board, softball team, and CERT member. She received six All-State awards for swimming and is a three-time state champion, as well as a three-time scholar athlete. She also was voted Most Valuable Player for swimming. .
Plans After Graduation: Undecided where to attend college. Plans to study health sciences to become a physical therapist.

Activities and Awards: Monroe County 4-H, Milan varsity soccer captain, Future Farmers of America (FFA) vice president, varsity swim and dive team, guitarist in his band "New Blues Street Project." Huron League All-Academic 1st team, Performing Arts State Award with 4-H, Michigan State FFA Degree, participated in the youth showcase at an international Blues contest in Memphis, Tenn., placed 19th in States for diving.
Plans After Graduation: Michigan State University to become a Physicst.

Activities and Awards: Men's tennis team captain and most valuable player. Captain of bowling team, manager for women's tennis team and math tutor.
Plans After Graduation: Undecided where to attend college. Plans to study Education.

Activities and Awards: Captain of the football team, member of the wrestling team, track team, National Honor Society, CERT and mock trial competition. Academic All-State for football, AP Scholar with distinction, National Society of High School Scholars.
Plans After Graduation: Kettering University in Flint to study mechanical engineering with a specialty in aerospace and a minor in electrical engineering

Activities and Awards: Book Club, and a Vice President of Language Club. National Honor Society.
Plans After Graduation: Eastern Michigan University with plans to become a teacher.

Activities and Awards: Cross Country captain, Swimming, Track and Field, National Honor Society, Band. AP Scholar Award, All league honors (cross country), State qualifier (cross country), All league honors (track), State solo and ensemble qualifier.

Activities and Awards: National Honor Society, Student Council. Four year varsity swim team and 3 years track, piano lessons for 11 years. Coach's Award three times for swimming and named all league academic.

Activities and Awards: Played soccer, tutored math, summer camp counselor, Project Straight Talk peer education program. Named first team All Huron League Academic for Soccer.

Activities and Awards: VP Language Club, Class Secretary for Student Council, Book Club, Project Straight Talk, research with Dr. Maria Milletti @ EMU in Ypsi. Named AP Scholar w/Distinction, member of National Honor Society.
Plans After Graduation: Yale University, New Haven, CT to study English and molecular biochemistry and biophysics.

Activities and Awards: Swimming and track, member of wind ensemble and student council. Captain of the swim team, All State Swimmer, National Honor Society and earned the Rising Star Award.
