Milan Police looking for men following attempted burglary

By Erica Hobbs

The Milan Police Department is looking for two men suspected of attempting to break into a home in the 600 block of Jefferson Lane late this morning.

A neighbor reported seeing two men in the backyard checking windows. They removed a screen on the basement window and attempted entry, but fled after noticing the neighbor looking out the window.

The getaway car is described as a clean, compact, dark blue vehicle last seen westbound on Arkona Road, leaving the city.

Anyone with information should contact the Milan Police at 734-439-1551.

@a2huron: I doubt that the Milan PD needs a recorded message, but may I suggest a more appropriate text: "The Milan Police Department is presently shorthanded because one of its officers can't tell the difference between an evidence locker and a toybox. Until our internal investigation is complete, the remaining MPD staff take public safety seriously and will answer your call promptly."

Here is a possible recorded message one might receive when calling Milan: "If the Milan Police Dept. does not answer the phone, it may be because we are presently short-handed due to our recent decision to remove an officer from duty for internal issues. Until our internal investigation is complete, we will respond to all calls when we have available officers on duty."
