Milan to mark its 125th anniversary with a birthday bash in Wilson Park
Milan will celebrate its 125th anniversary Sunday in Wilson Park downtown with food, music, historic displays, a birthday cake and more.
The celebration, dubbed "Get Your Milan On" begins at noon with a performance by the Milan High School Jazz Band.
Various events will follow throughout the day, including a barbershop quartet performance at 2, a performance of a skit, written by historian and City Council member Martha Churchhill at 3:30, birthday cake at 5 and a time capsule ceremony at 5:30.
Carriage rides will be available from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wabash Street near the fire station.
Pre-celebration events include a movie in Wilson park at dusk Saturday night and a Milan anniversary float in the Milan High School Homecoming Parade Friday night. The parade steps off at 5:45 p.m. from Milan Middle School and winds its way through downtown.
