Milan's police chief resigns
Chief Jeff Lewis of the Milan Police Department will be stepping down from his position on Jan. 2.
Lewis announced the decision this week, according to a report in the Milan News-Leader.
He's leaving to run the police department in Muskegon. Before taking over in Milan, Lewis worked for many years at the Ypsilanti Police Department.
Milan's City Council will discuss a proposed transition plan on Dec. 12, according to the News-Leader.
“The positive impact that Chief Lewis has had on not only the Milan Police Department, but on the City itself, has been tremendous, and he will be sorely missed,” said Mayor Kym Muckler in a news release.

I wish you the best, but I'm sad that you're leaving. I think you've been a great asset to the community.

That is actually good news, because it's not of criminal behavior that he's leaving.
