More snow likely in Ann Arbor after 4-inch accumulation Monday
About 4 inches of snow fell in the Ann Arbor area Monday, according to the National Weather Service, and a couple of more inches could be added to that total Tuesday.
Ann Arbor residents are likely to find cars left outside covered with snow later today.

Forecasters predict a high of 28 degrees, 5 degrees warmer than Monday’s high of 23.
More snow showers are likely Tuesday night, but less than half an inch of accumulation is expected. The low will drop to about 13.
Wednesday will bring a mostly sunny day with a high near 25.
Thursday will be warmer with a high of 35. There’s also a 40 percent chance of snow showers after 1 p.m.
Friday will be partly sunny with a high of 31.

It's winter! We live in Michigan! We got spoiled last year. This year, well, we're making up for it. At least it's pretty! I'd rather have snow on the ground than have warm-ish, grey, rainy and muddy days.

The winters of 2010-11, 2009-10 and 2008-09 each had a season snow total of over 60 inches. Last year (2011-12) was one of the lowest in about a decade. This winter is well ahead of last year but behind that of two years ago, so far.

I think the above commenters are both right. I (erroneously) remember a lot more snow around here when I was a child...but that could just be happy thoughts on my part.

I'm not sure how old you are, justcurious, but at Christmas, my family and I were looking at old family photos. There was a picture of me as a 4 year old (in 1977), standing in a trench dug into the snow (from the front door of our house to the mailbox). The snow was a good 6 inches above my head. There were other pictures of me, as a 5 year old, ice skating in my grandparent's back yard with about 3 feet of snow on the ground. So, yeah. We are totally not getting the same type and amounts of snow these days that we got when we were young.

I don't think the weather is more volatile, I'd just say that people are getting a lot softer with all their modern day conveniences. Its not like you could go out and warm up the horse and buggy back in the day, and those people actually got around without anyone plowing the two tracks.

Thank you for the continuing weather updates. The weather sure seems more volatile than when this 55-year-old was a child, but maybe we just pay more attention now that we drive through it, pay heating bills, shut down schools more quickly, etc. etc.
