News of Osama bin Laden's death inspires singing, flag waving in Ann Arbor

By Melanie Maxwell

Small groups of University of Michigan students celebrated Sunday the announcement that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces. The students walked along South University waving flags and singing patriotic songs.

Students and newly graduated ROTC members cheered and sprayed a bottle of champagne. Cars drove past with passengers singing patriotic songs, guys on scooters did several laps around the South University area beeping their horns.
