@Sven- Can an update be done about cause of fire? This is helpful perhaps toward preventing house fires in other people's houses.

The map has the streets labeled incorrectly. Actual Bending is labeled Olden. Can someone tell Google?

The lovely young couple whose house this is are my next-door neighbors. For anyone who reads a news story like this and thinks, "Oh, that's too bad," and jumps to the next story, let me tell you, the people affected are devastated. Their lives turned upside down in only two or three minutes. In a literal instant, they were faced with the need to decide what's really important and what do you let go. Perhaps this is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our priorities and have an emergency plan, in case we are faced with such a situation. The police and fire were truly wonderful, compassionate, professional, understanding. Thank you for keeping us safe.

Thank you, firefighters. What important work they do, and what good hearts (saving the family pet as well) they have. I'm so sorry for the family, and wish them well in their rebuilding.

The firefighters were great. As we (the neighbors) comforted the family, and prayed that the cat was okay, the firefighters took care to find the cat (after securing the house) well and in good condition in the basement. Then, after asking the family what they need from the house, were able to retrieve one small photograph that meant so much to the family - again, after securing the house, a firefighter was able to find and deliver this photo to the family. For my neighbors, the ordeal continues; our hearts and our homes are open to them. Our firefighters, and the police and other first responders who were there, deserve high praise.

Neal, please encourage your neighbors to contact the Red Cross at 866.971.5300. They can provide them with housing, food, and clothing and help them through the recovery process. They're available 24/7/365.

Great posting Neal. Glad the family and pet are well and it sounds like they have great neighbors to thank as well as all of the first responders.

The structure has fire, heat and smoke throughout, as opposed to one room or area. Generally it means it's too dangerous to enter without fire hose support.

Props to the firefighters for saving the family and a big meow from neighboring cats who didn't loose their buddy!
