By AnnArbor.com Staff

Business Review is seeking nominations for the 5th annual “Deals of the Year” celebration of business success in the Ann Arbor region.

The event will be Friday, Nov. 6, at the Four Points Sheraton in Ann Arbor. Deals of the Year is a black-tie awards ceremony which highlights business decisions that had the most impact in the region over the previous year.

Winners are kept secret until they’re unveiled at the event, which was started in 2005 by the Ann Arbor Business Review. The event continues under the auspices of the Business Review, which moved its brand to AnnArbor.com in August.

“Despite the economy, there is so much positive business news in this community,” said Laurel Champion, executive vice president of AnnArbor.com. “We think it’s important to continue this event as a celebration of the economic growth in this region.”

Business Review is seeking nominees for both Executive of the Year and Company of the Year, as well as companies that fit seven sectors that lead the local economy:

  • Banking & Finance
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Construction & Development
  • Health Care
  • Nonprofit
  • Research
  • Technology

Winners in 2008 included Roger Newton, Health Media and Con-way Freight.

Nominees need to have demonstrated meaningful change - such as a project launch, a research discovery or major financing boost that advances operations - from Oct. 1, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2009.

The sector nominees will be pared to three finalists in each category. Only the winners will be announced for the top executive and top company.

To nominate a company or individual, call or email Business Director Paula Gardner at (734) 623-2586 or PaulaGardner@annarbor.com by Sept. 28.

Finalists will be announced in early October, and details on the event - including hours and how to purchase tickets - will be announced later this month.
