Nothing unusual reported during UM/EMU game, police say

By Stefanie Murray

The number of people who were arrested on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol or who needed medical assistance during Saturday's University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University football game was on par with other games, despite the cross-county rivalry, University of Michigan police said.

The announced attendance at Michigan Stadium was 107,903.

According to Diane Brown, public information officer for University of Michigan police:

  • Seven people were arrested on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol.
  • Ten people received citations, nine for alcohol in the stadium and one for illegal sales of tickets.
  • Twenty-three people were ejected from the game, 20 for violating stadium rules and three for disorderly conduct.
  • Emergency medical treatment was required for 61 people, 13 of whom were transported to the hospital.

Plainly speaking, your articles, are simply sweetness and light. So glad to see people were so well behaved, yet again.

NOOOO, what I find interesting is that if you look at the "latest news" it's all football. Granted it's close to 110,000 people all within a few blocks of each other. But it seems as though the bulk of the "news" people at annarbor.com take saturdays off. If it weren't for football someone might think everyone in a2 takes the 6th day off. do more "seen and heard" around town. how about a random "meet so and so from ann arbor" as a small shop owner, how about a random "meet shop owner so and so in their shop that carries such and such" one or two a week. no video necessary, a few pictures at most and some Q & A or a 5 paragraph blurb. or a story about "just a stroll down such a street with shops that speciallize in blah blah blah" I was amazed to find a wonderbra for my cat, handknit by a local one handed monkey, blind and drunk but otherwise jovial and pleasant company who told a funny story about this pie, a piece of bacon and the ups man. pump some life into this site. at least when it was part of mlive there was other papers articles to read to supplement a "slow news day" I understand it's a "new site" but it's like watching something take a nap. I keep coming back hoping for something exciting to tear me away from work! more pictures of puppies, a slide show of animals makes every site better. how about teaming up with the Humane Society with "adoptable pets" of the week. how about more "polls" how about "win a certificate" crossword and soduko? why are there suddenly more dead raccoons by the side of the road? I have never seen so many, I counted eleven on a 15 min drive. something!something! please.

Wow. Stop complaining about the article being bland. You aren't forced to read it. I happen to think it's really interesting to see the numbers after an event which holds 110,000 people.

Yea, this is a real attention grabber. Could have probably slept through this one. Who ever wrote the article is stuck in a rut by continually saying, so and so "said". It gets a little tiring after while
