Officials warn of icy conditions after overnight temperature drop
Extra caution is urged this morning as the Ann Arbor area awakes to icy conditions on roads and sidewalks after an overnight temperature drop.
Temperatures were 21 F just before 6 a.m. Monday, following a rainy weekend when the high hit the 50s.
According to weather forecasters, "after readings fell quickly below freezing last evening ... (the) brisk wind continued to carry much colder air into the region."
Pockets of snow flurries and trace amounts of snow also are likely to fall, making slick conditions worse, according to weather officials.
There are some reports of icy highways early Monday.
Monday's high should reach 32 F, the normal high for the date. However, with winds possible at 5-15 mph, the wind chill could drop to 9 F.
