Online name-calling, racially charged comments end cute baby contest
The cute baby contest at the Milan Community Fair will be no more after this year’s competition degenerated into online name-calling and racist remarks, the Milan News and WDIV reported.
Holly Anderson, the mother of two children who were named winners of the Prince and Princess Contest 2012 at the Milan Fair, told Channel 4 other parents criticized her children and left racist remarks on the fair's Facebook page after the contest results were announced. The comments have since been removed.
Also, at least one mother alleged that boxes that collected money “votes” for the contestants had been tampered with, the Milan News Leader reported. The allegation is being investigated.

This could never happen on this site, you're thinking? Although some of the meanest, nastiest, most personal attacks are made on this site against posters when others disagree with them rather than just just posting a rebuttal with their rationale? And once you disagree with someone, they may even stalk you on other topics and leave nasty comments on your posts there as well. So classy. But never in Ann Arbor, LoL.

Sparty...Free speech doesn't come with a guarantee of classy. Wish it did, but it don't.

Entering any baby in a cute baby contest is foolish. If we had done it with our kids and grandkids others would not have had a chance!

My little Ben would have beaten all your kids and grandkids (by "beaten" I mean that he was and still is the cutest, smartest, and best looking of them all).

The media should be ashamed of itself for the way they have portrayed the other mothers involved. The news has made it seem as though we are a bunch of trashy rednecks and that is FAR from the truth.

It's not the media's fault! They are just reporting the news they get about a bunch of whining , bitchy mothers and other people that alway's what to bring race into it, "oh, they taked bad about my babies!!"! But they don't have to worry about it anymore, thanks to them the contest won't be happening anymore. Congratulations on your accomplishment!!!

WDIV reports the shocking story that a cute baby contest ends due to name calling and racist remarks. Meanwhile, every story posted on clickondetroit.com, WDIV's website, immediately gets flooded with.....name calling and racist remarks. If you ever think the comments on annarbor.com are bad, swing by their comments section. You'll feel better about yourself and weep for humanity at the same time.

That's two accusations of racism in your last three comments. Let me guess - you're a liberal?

nothing says cute baby quite like ballot tampering, allegations of theft and racial slurs. It could have been worse i suppose, they could have been kittens or puppies.
