Bill sponsored by Michigan senators would protect the Great Lakes
I am writing to thank Senators Levin and Stabenow for introducing and supporting the Great Lake’s Ecosystem Protection Act in the Senate.
This legislation will be an important step in protecting the health of our lakes. Every year 20 billion gallons of sewage go into the lakes due to rainwater run off. This pollution has led to dead zones, including on in Lake Erie that may grow to the size of Connecticut.
The Great Lakes Ecosystem Protection Act will provide funding to clean up the pollution in the lakes and allow agencies to work together better, to better protect our lakes. Our Senators deserve praise for taking this positive step.

Will the act stop the Asian Carp? Will it stop oil drilling? Water sales? Will it fund sewage treatment plants to prevent future pollution? Or is this just another attempt to appear like something is being accomplished besides lip service?
