Incumbent **Julie Schumaker** is the ideal candidate for **Dexter Board of Education** in the upcoming May 3 election.

A long time Dexter resident and parent, Julie has served on the Board of Education since 2003. With both formal education and extensive professional experience in educational policy, as well as her history of active community involvement and dedicated connection with families, Julie is extremely well qualified to continue to represent the interests of students and this community in a positive and constructive manner.

Our Board of Education needs to cohesively address the looming budget challenges, and Julie has proven herself a vital pathfinder whose thoughtfulness, insight, and established presence offer stability and continuity. She has the facts behind every issue and knows the history of why decisions have been made to grow Dexter schools for our students and this community.

Highlights of Julie’s Board service include two bond issues where the district earned laudable reviews from external auditors, policy revisions to improve transparency and opportunity for public comment, development and implementation of the 2008 Dexter Community Schools Strategic Plan, and tireless efforts to isolate the impact of nearly a decade of budget reductions from our classrooms through administrative efficiencies and consolidations.
