Dingell makes his case for health-care reform
Yahoo News has an opinion piece from U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, pushing his Energy and Commerce Committee's Affordable Healthcare for America Act.
Dingell, who represents much of Washtenaw County, says the act "will reform our health insurance industry so companies prioritize policyholders’ health instead of investors’ profits." He criticizes the insurance industry for lobbying against reform efforts and throws out a lot of numbers that he says illustrate the need for reform.
He closes with this admonition to his colleagues: "You will be asked about this vote until the day you die. Years from now, none of these things we put so much stock in now will matter. All anyone will want to know is: did you do the right thing when history called on you? It is time for health care reform. We can’t afford to wait. We can’t afford to think small. We can’t afford to fail."

Improvements and innovation occur in private business as a means to compete successfully in our market economy. There is no similar incentive within bowels of a massive government bureaucracy. Only "change" pushed through by politicians seeking favor from one group or another. This is generally why the Soviet Union failed, socialist states stagnate and the United States remains the worlds greatest economy....but now we have democrats in DC who are arrogant enough to think they can vivisect the worlds greatest economy and create a better one managed by them - the federal government. Astonishing...and few law makers are as clueless and out of touch with reality as Dingell. Without exception, our senior leadership in the Senate has made themselves an embarrassment to this state.

This is Dingell's legacy issue. His father tried to enact socialized medicine and now he has been trying since the 1950's. He will do and say anything to get it passed. This bill is not about providing medical care to low income people. This bill is a weath transfer and means to expand the dependant class. The feds will tax the rich and business to finance care for the dependant class. In return the dependant class will continue to vote for Dems who promise to take care of them. Dingell's bill will cost TRILLIONS of dollars and will result in lower quality for all.
