Government chose retribution over human rights in killing Bin Laden
At least the U.S. government finally acknowledges its role in political assassinations these days. It was a switch, though, for our president to relinquish his stance as constitutional scholar and come out as biblical apologist in declaring that murder does “justice.”
Osama Bin Laden could clearly have been taken into custody by the SEALS, but our government of late has been unable to reconcile its precepts of human rights in the justice system with the temptations of retribution.
If our defense department were inclined to withdraw from occupation of Afghanistan, this would be a timely opportunity.

The reason Osama was killed was to ensure that there would be no trial or place of incarceration that would provide a locus of violence by his Islamofascist followers. This was the responsible path as it minimized further potential death and destruction.

Osama bin Laden should have thought through the consequences before declared war on US, he ordered the murder over 3000 on 9/11 and the thousands of other deaths he ordered, world wide. Assassination is a legitimate tool of war, always has been, always will be.

What the govt did was assess the cost of a trial and the potential of additional attacks while holding this less than humane individual and made the conscious decision to save us all some money. He got his just deserve.

Who was it that said, " I love my country, but fear my government"? This is a lesson for those of you who think more governmnt is the solution.

"If our defense department were inclined to withdraw from occupation of Afghanistan, this would be a timely opportunity." I was not aware the defense department could make that decision.
