“It’s really hard for me to look at the fact they’re continuing to close our schools, losing one school after another, and here we are building another facility in YPS. It’s hard for me to get my head around that. We have all these schools closing and another one opening.” - Ypsilanti Planning Commission Vice Chairwoman Sally Richie, on plans by a private company to build a charter high school in Ypsilanti Township.

“At some level, none of the cuts in this plan are fair in any way, shape, form or manner. We need to redouble our efforts to convince legislators that we need help solving our problem.” - Ypsilanti school board President David Bates, on a deficit elimination plan approved last Monday night.

“It immediately blew out both tires on the driver’s side. We got off to the side of the road, and someone behind us hit the same pothole.” - Ann Arbor resident Deedra Cravens, after the family SUV hit a large pothole on US-23, near North Territorial Road, in Northfield Township.

“The funding for roads and highways has been steadily diminishing. The money is not there to improve roads and rebuild roads to the level that can withstand that freezing and thawing.” - Jim Harmon, director of operations with the Washtenaw County Road Commission, on the condition of Michigan roads.

David I am certainly not rich. $48,000 a year. But how do you define "fair share"? Should everyone pay the same percentage of their income in taxes? Lets say 20% and remove all the credits and loopholes. So someone that makes $1.000,000 should pay $200,000 in taxes I should pay $9,600 And someone that makes $20,000 should pay $4000 Should everyone pay according to the services they get ? Does the person that pays $200,000 in taxes benefit more from the roads, schools, garbage pickup? Does the person that pays $9,600 in taxes benefit more from the roads, schools, garbage pickup? Does the person that pays $4,000 in taxes benefit more from the roads, schools, garbage pickup? I know what is fair. There are those that would say those to whom much has been given, much is required. There are many examples of the rich getting rich at the poor mans expense. There are also many examples of the poor man benefiting from the rich mans generosity. What do you think is fair?

We just need to cut taxes some more. The rich can't be expected to pay their fair share.

What does any of this have to do with Warren Beatty?

From reading both of these vignettes, the moral of the story, "It is someone else's fault." Cheers! - Steve
