“I didn’t drive over them. I swear to God ... I swear on the Holy Bible I didn't drive over them." - Ann Arbor resident Dillon Pearce, denying to a police officer that he ran over four ducklings in a McDonald’s restaurant parking lot.

“What we have is a situation we fear will escalate into a loss of lives. We have to error on the side of our common good, our safety, our welfare and our tranquility.” - Ann Arbor Police Chief Barnett Jones, commenting on the city’s efforts to close down the Dream Nite Club after a series of incidents involving violence.

“I’m not proud of it at all. It’s probably one of the low points in my life.” - Pioneer High School graduate Ben Durham, apologizing for participating in senior pranks that included defecating on other high school athletic fields and resulted in the suspension of 31 students.

“Unfortunately, I’m kind of used to the sound of guns shooting.” - Ypsilanti resident Andy Claydon, complaining to the City Council about an incident near his home in which a semi-automatic weapon was fired outside a liquor store in the city’s Midtown area.
