Ann Arbor Township firefighters commended for 9/11 tribute

By Letters to the Editor

I would like recognition given to the Ann Arbor Township Fire Department.

The American flag flies from the ladder of an Ann Arbor Township fire truck last Sunday at Plymouth Road and US-23.

As we left northeast Ann Arbor this morning (Sunday, Sept. 11), we were struck by the sight of a huge flag flying from the top of a fire truck ladder.

As we returned later, we saw that members of the Ann Arbor Township Fire Department had their truck with ladder fully extended with the flag at the top on the township side of Plymouth road and US-23.

It was a very fitting tribute to the extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty by those who died fighting the fire and trying to save lives.
