Obama, Democratic leaders failed their supporters on healthcare reform
Democrats in Ann Arbor had a meeting on healthcare in December, shortly after Obama's victory. We voted unanimously to support Single Payer, but we've been totally ignored, both by local leadership and by the administration, which kept telling us we had to be realistic, that a little was better than nothing.
Now, with the nomination of Liz Fowler to administer the "overhaul" -- what a joke that was -- we'll be getting less than nothing. A "Change We Can Believe In"? Sure!

It is sometimes hard to tell, but Ann Arbor is not the center of the Universe, or even the hub of the USA. So, Ann Arborites voted a resolution and it did not come to pass? It happens all the time, in Washington, in Phoenix, even in Lansing.

Mr. Briegel. It is tiring, to hear the endless rants of people like you. Mr. Obama has only attempted to choke and kill the fastest advancing medical care in the world. I will agree with your assertion, that our government is corrupt. That is the exact reason, I do wish for them to be in control of my healthcare. It is hard for me to understand why some Americans have such hatred to the wealthy is this country. Who are these evil wealthy people? What is their goal? The last time I checked; the Democratic party has continued the same "bail out" programs of the previous administration. I mean, "Really?" Can you not see, that both parties are "in bed" with wall street? For me, that is another reason I do wish government in my daily life. We have tried for 40 years, to help the uninsured, and impoverished. Program after progam, billions after billions. The only thing we have created is, a new constituency (people, who will not work, nor make good life choices). Now we have generational welfare that crosses the urban and rural landscape. If a person wants to see 40 years of liberal policies without any opposition; Go to Detroit. I can show you places in the rural south, with the same problems, as Detroit. Mr. Briegel, I have only one question," When do we grade the social programs of the last 40 years?" When do we say, "We've spent enough." I often hear liberals say, that they're looking out for the middle class. If you tax, and give all the rewards of work, to those, who will not; aren't you essentially creating one class of people? Consequently, why would anyone in this new "class" have the desire to work? Think it over.

To expect Obama or any leader to change the culture of corruption and the corrupting influence of the wealthy and their money is not reasonable in any case. The Right Wing (not so)Supreme Court has just assured us that this will only get worse as they have legalized the bribery of our elected officials! Health Care was a perfect example of the corrupting influence of corporate money.
