People who don't pay for healthcare won't value it
Saw a letter from a pediatrician lobbying for passage of the healthcare bill (“America’s children need health reform,” Sunday, March 21). Something about more kids being able to get the medicine they need. I have to ask. Do the parents have money for a new car? Big screen TV? The latest cell phones, iPods, gold chains, vacations? Let me know when you’ve weeded those out. The ones that are left, we can help.
There’s also a fact of human nature at work. That which you do not pay for, you value not.
But I could be wrong. Look at “public” housing, paid for by taxpayer funds. That’s really working well, isn’t it? Want to see the units trashed and boarded up in Ypsilanti, half the buildings? Again, that which you do not pay for, you value not.
Public schools are paid for with taxpayer funds. USA has the highest per-student cost in the world. The education is great, isn’t it? Well, the results aren’t, and they’re getting worse. Students from many other countries are eating our lunch. Again, that which you do not pay for, you value not.
What about houses for all, mortgages anyone can afford? No money down, low interest, you can move in right away. Hmm, seems like we tried that. People are walking away and letting the banks -- read taxpayers, thanks to Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Obama -- take the loss. And the bankers are still the criminals. Too funny! But wait, the mortgages were too complicated. The people didn’t understand them. See public-school results above. Darn, the same theme. That which you do not pay for, you value not.
But seriously, we really need free (taxpayer-funded) health care. It’s working so well in other countries, isn’t it? Why did the Canadian premier of Newfoundland come to USA for heart surgery? Italian Berlusconi, same story, isn’t that curious?
And with free healthcare, surely people won’t be foolish enough to become more obese, to exercise even less, to abuse more drugs and then expect our medical system to fix them, will they? Will they? That which you do not pay for, you value not.

The GOOD NEWS about this democrat cram down is that all those young professionals, college kids (now graduating) and other youth who believed the lies and supported obama will now be FORCED TO BUY HEATH INSURANCE at a time in their lives when they least need it and can least afford it. You will pay the equivalent of one or more car payments to the government and the 16,500 new IRS agents will have you under a new level of surveillance to make sure. No matter how the issue is spun by democrat socialists, you will PAY MORE and will have less money to start your young lives. This is awesome and a fitting PENALTY for their poor judgment. Bottom line is that while working people will hand over their pay checks to the federal government, this is a huge gift to the multi generational unemployed in every big city who, even as doctors close their inner city offices, will wander the streets with the same insurance card as those contributing to society. Where does this money you will send to the government come from? They will buy a cheaper first car, crummier apartment, delay purchase of a first house, delay marriage plans and forgo vacations. Much of this massive failure of government and spitting on the Constitution is possible because while the national media could find out where President Bush's socks were purchased a few years ago, now refuse to do their jobs as they goose step along with their disastrous government. In fact, their corruption is so absolute that they should forfeit their protection under the First Amendment to the Constitution until they rediscover their duty and obligation to the American people.

I appreciate the health care that this county provides. I don't have an iPod, or a fancy phone, or a new car. I went to the doctor twice; that's what preventive health care costs. And, I think our public schools are pretty good all considering. I know lots of kids in other countries that don't get to go to school because you have to pay for it. Property taxes don't pay for it.

Nice ramble of anecdotal evidence. You sure convinced me. Not.

This is hilarious. The whole point of insurance is that, once you've bought it, it's all-you-can-use for a flat fee. By this logic, we should ban insurance altogether! Also, "gold chains"? Who wears gold chains? Oh, I know. Nice, dude.
