Pro life supporters fight for what is right
Abortion has become front and center in the health care debate. It might be a good idea to examine the motives of each side.
Pro life people have no financial stake in the issue, they are all volunteers, motivated by a sense of what is right, just and moral. They are also appalled at the negative impact abortion has had on our nation and society as a whole and want to reverse the direction.
Abortion proponents, however, have huge monetary gains to protect. Abortion is big business, Obama and the Democrats have been in the back pocket of abortion providers for over 30 years.
Sometimes pregnancy care centers (pro life) are accused of choosing names for their centers that disguise whether they are abortion providers or pro life centers. This is to attract abortion-minded women so they can be given the support they need to continue the pregnancy.
But it is not difficult to tell the care centers from the abortion centers ... just look in the phone book. The ones who take MasterCard andVisa are always the abortion providers. The crisis pregnancy centers squeak by on donor funds and volunteer staff.
It is clear who owns the high ground in this debate.

Do I note that very dangerous "holier than thou" attitude prevelant in most religious right wingers? Thank God for the constitution. That ought to get you going!

Dear Mr. Briegel, Poor women have access to health care, its called Medicaid. It does not cover abortion or a nose job, but does provide financing for health care at the worlds finest health care system.

Many immoral acts were protected by "the Law". Slavery, Japanese internment during WWII, just to name a few. Just because abortion is legal does not make it right. Scott Peterson was convicted of two counts of murder; his wife and their unborn son. At what point and who decides, when an unborn child can be a victim or disposable matter.

David Briegel-You're right that the right to choose is the law. But that doesn't make the law right. Remember, slavery was once the law, but it was gravely wrong.

BKW, how can you try to equate an animal with a human being? Killing and eating an animal is a lot different that having unprotected sex and then just killing the "inconvenient" baby you've created. Also, not all pro-lifers are religious zealots. Many of you post about having God shoved in your face but one doesn't have to believe in a higher power to believe that killing an innocent child is wrong. The writer of this letter is correct though that abortion is a big money maker. This in itself will keep it legal.

How can you say you are fighting for what is right. There is an 80% chance that your private insurance company covers abortion yet you will sentence to death thousands of living and breathing people for lack of health insurance because you don't like the "wording" on the health care bill regarding abortion. You lack the conviction and backbone to picket outside your employers and spouses employers and the insurance companies and demand they stop providing abortion coverage but you are right there trying to make sure poor people get no health insurance. How dare you call yourself right to life. What life are your referring to?

Those who support right to life should quit eating material that has been alive. You can't have it both ways.

stunhsif, you add nothing to the debate with any of the posts you make. It would have been my Mom and your Mom's choice. That's the law. No mention of the wanted babies that die every day due to lack of health care. Curious? Murder happens every day in many forms of gov't sanctioned actions! Predator drones are hardly selective and neither are the cruise missles, helicopter gunships and tanks we are using in cities and villages aroung the world. We call it collateral damage.

for you pro-choice folks, be thankful your Mom didn't just see you as a piece of tissue to be gotten rid of? Don't just react to what I just wrote, think about it for just a minute please! We were all a fetus at some point, a baby inside our mother's womb. Abortion is murder, to call it otherwise is a lie and we all know it.

That's your choice. She will make her own choice. There is never, ever a response to helping real women who want their babies and who can't get health care.

All you pro-choice writers-what has an innocent fetus done to deserve death? How does murdering a fetus advance the interests of the mother? Mothers suffer depression, guilt, and other mental problems afterword. I've seen slogans like, "Keep your laws off our bodies!" But the fetus isn't your body. You don't need evidence of that. It's self-evident on its face. So is my first point about the innocent fetus not deserving death.

What a poorly written editorial. Im surprised that such a young news company would want to publish an article that makes such wild accusations but offers absolutely no evidence of its claims. If a writer is going to state that financial gain is a reason, even if it is not the primary reason, then at least some evidence should be presented to support such a position. Although this writer tries to offer some evidence, stating that they take credit cards, it I one of absolutely no validity. The mere fact that they take a method of payment other than cash or check is not proof of any motive other than making the process as convenient as possible for those who must pay for the services they receive regardless of what that service may have been. Further, this person claims that They are also appalled at the negative impact abortion has had on our nation and society yet they offer neither evidence nor even a description of the negative impact. The writer also tries to argue that the deception of pro-life health centers use to trick unsuspecting young women to subjecting themselves to an openly hostile provider is actually a good thing. Using deception or coercion to influence an individual who is in crisis is morally wrong. Consider if you will a food bank that requires an individual who is starving to pray to a God that they do believe in, or a shelter forcing a homeless person or family to engage in some activity that is against their belief system or even the law. When a person is in a desperate situation it is an abomination to take advantage of them for your own gain, even if that gain is non-monetary. I agree with the writer that examining the motivations of each side is a healthy part of any debate, but the writer does not actually present either an educated or honest letter and this news source has done a great disservice to both its own reputation and to its readers by its publication.

They do not understand reason or logic. It is the law. Even you must obey the law. Women have a right to choose. You don't like that. You want to make their choice. They will always make their own choice. The question is whether they will get good health care or illegal health care. Rich women will always get a D & C no matter what your God says. And poor women will have access to health care under our law! Here is another single issue zealot with no concern for the wanted babies. Only unwanted fetuses. Please, help the women who need health care and whose wanted babies die becouse our nation is 35th in infant mortality! Please. Join us in the battle for health care for all!

Or maybe it just costs a lot more to perform surgery than to sit there and shove God in their face while they're trying to move on from being raped by their father? Oh, and I though the largest abortion provider was a non-profit.
