Rebekah Warren is the pro-education candidate for state Senate

By Letters to the Editor

Supporters of public education, beware! The pro-education State Senate candidate for the 18th District is Rebekah Warren, as she has consistently had the back of public school teachers, and worked to improve opportunities for all students in Michigan.

The #1 enemy of public education in Michigan, the Great Lakes Education Project, founded by Dick DeVos, (failed Republican gubernatorial candidate) is supporting and bankrolling the campaign of her opponent, Pam Byrnes. Aligning herself with anti-public school organizations puts Ms. Byrnes in a precarious position as a potential state senator and makes me wonder who she will be beholden to should she be elected. My next question is “what is Pam Byrnes’ commitment to public education?”

Vote for Rebekah Warren on Tuesday Aug. 3, and let’s move public education in Michigan forward, because strong public schools are the most important legacy we can leave our children.
