Ypsilanti mayor Paul Schreiber is a proven leader -- a person who has shown he has the ability to work with all constituents in the community.

His skills at listening and bringing people to a consensus on important issues facing the city demonstrate that he is the kind of leader we need as the spokesperson for Ypsilanti.

In these challenging economic times, the only new resources the city will have are going to come through the efficiencies and savings achieved through collaboration across governmental agencies and in partnerships with our current and new businesses.

Mayor Schreiber has shown that he can accomplish such public/private partnerships.

A major example of his leadership is the recent purchase of the Parkview Apartments by the Ypsilanti Housing Commission. These much-blighted gateway apartments will soon be rehabilitated, providing attractive affordable housing.

This is an example of a long-term project that Mayor Schreiber has championed since his tenure as chair of the housing commission prior to becoming mayor.

Ypsilanti deserves a mayor that makes its citizens proud -- to be represented by a leader with both a vision for the future and the ability to bring people together and get things done. We urge you to re-elect Paul Schreiber as Ypsilanti mayor in the Aug. 3 Democratic primary.
